Why did Lot pitch his tent toward Sodom?

With all those church fags and righteous lesbians. Did you grow up in those cities and have to “choose” where to live when you came of age?

Just to presume a “leaning” or “inclination” of such a vile and base sort on the part of a landowner.

[Genesis 13:12] Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

[2 Peter 2:7–8] And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

Apostle Peter acknowledges the salvation of Lot where neither Samuel Carpenter nor Dr. Roger Barrier does.

Lot Pitched His Tent Toward Sodom
Today’s Scripture reading is Genesis 13:10-12. Verse 12, “Lot...pitched his tent toward Sodom. I cannot remember where I heard it or who said it, but I remember the quote - “Your direction determines your destination.” It is an obvious statement, but one of great importance as well. Lot…

No. It's time to set some preachers straight. Lot's life was not wrecked. His life was saved and the lives of his daughters and the angels. Everyone else's life was wrecked on that city, but not Lot's or his daughter's lives or the lives of the angels who led them out. Even to this day, many of us live in man-made caves lined with gypsum board.

Tenting Toward Sodom (Studies in Character #13)
A thoughtful, conservative Christian perspective on Bibles, hymns, and topics of general spiritual interest.
Lot is not one of the bad guys of the Bible.  In fact, he is described as “righteous Lot” by Peter in 2 Peter 2:7.  However, he does not appear in the ranks of the heroes of Hebrews 11, we don’t preach sermons commending him, and we don’t name our children after him.  All of this disapproval is the result of the mistake of Genesis 13:12.  Lot pitched his tent toward Sodom, and it wrecked his life.

Nominally “Christian” Preachers who disapprove of Apostle Peter don't make the grade. Peter's testimony is adequate, and preachers who opine otherwise may cease flapping their jaws at the barbershop. Assuming Lot had a haircut just like most all the other guys — as, well, the Bible does not even suggest otherwise. Lot isn't Samson, and the Bible doesn't condemn Samson either, for that matter.

Regardless, the idle talk of men flapping their jaws at the barbershop (or at the voting booths or election polls) should not be taken for Christian preaching.

So what is that little piece of land called where a Christian is supposed to pitch his tent or build his house? And maybe plant some sod and mow it, too? Just like all the other residents of any given large city in modern-day California?

If Lot's life was “wrecked” and the whole population of Sodom was not destroyed by fire and brimstone, what Bible are these preachers reading anyways? Just go live in a cave somewhere happily ever after with your family, and don't act so righteous about it.
