Obnoxious social services
Under Trump’s new national socialist workers’ party executive order
npr: Trump's homelessness executive order is 'cruel,' says Alexandria, Va. mayor
And extraordinarily so. It's effectively a national suicide, just like the collapse of the Weimar Republic nearly a century ago in Europe under the exact same national socialist workers’ party policies.

If people were really "suffering" in homeless camps, they'd be moving off somewhere else in a real hurry, assuming they are free to go. Otherwise, they're camping where they want to camp, with whatever resources and money they own or have access to at the location. Whatever is attracting them to the spot, that's what they're there for.
Jobs? Apartments for rent? Cheap lots of land to build on? There's really no reason it should be that hard for anybody. What's the big deal?
If they're doing illegal street drugs, arrest them on drug charges. If no overnight camping is allowed, or if they've exceeded a stay limit somewhere, tell them to move on, camp somewhere else. We really shouldn't have a problem with people who aren't doing anything illegal bicycling and/or backpacking in parks and forests on a very low budget.

... historic expansion of federal police power into services largely carried out by nonprofits and local governments.
Arrest the pimps and drug dealers and remove the "attractive nuisances" that cause drug addicts and prostitutes to camp in tents on city streets.
Drugging and torturing people — many of whom are neither poor nor homeless — to death under court orders for civil commitment isn't quite the right answer in all due respect of gun rights, and now the feds are piling on and exacerbating the needless destruction of human lives already caused by state and local governments by continually stuffing court dockets with mental health garbage, frivolous trespass and loitering charges, false red-flag restraining orders and other obnoxious service of process rather than fighting crime.
I have to raise my eyebrows not at the "cost of living" which really isn't so much, but at the costs of all the unnecessary waste, fraud and abuse of obnoxious social services which impose such a staggering and insurmountable burden on law-abiding citizens who somehow attract the attention of corrupt law enforcement parties.
