Jewish Communism?
More of an oxymoron than an antisemitic trope, but nonetheless …
It is perhaps to some extent an inordinately or disproportionately Jewish “City Hall” thing in America. Otherwise, I do not know that most religiously observant or conservative Jews care to associate that much with unbelieving Bolshevik “communities” of local government to forcibly dispossess people of cash, coins, valuables, precious metals, guns and private property.
Acts 17:1–9. Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few. But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus. And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things. And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.
“Jewish communism,” or “Judeo-Bolshevism,” is an antisemitic conspiracy theory that states Jews have been behind communist revolutions around the world. Leon Trotsky was a political ideologue, who happened to be Jewish, who was personified by the Russian Czarist government as a symbol for Jewish Bolshevism. Nazi Germany invoked the antisemitic “Judeo-Bolshevism” myth to blame Jews for Germany’s woes after World War I. While some Jews were communists and fought in the Red Army during World War II, labeling all Jews as communists is antisemitic. Another code word invoked is “Marxists,” after Karl Marx, who, despite being of Jewish descent, decried Judaism and blamed Jewish merchants for promoting capitalism.
The description given here is fairly informative and neutral.
The “Ten Commandments” (on which all proper Jewish law is based) are in effect a potent diatribe against communism, equating Communism to nothing less than Satanism. Thus it would be unfair to label Jews with even a passing observance of the Ten Commandments as Communists, as Communism breaks every one of those tenets of basic law, denying the existence of God, murdering parents, and allowing free rein to wholesale murder-for-hire, adultery, theft, perjury and other duplicitous exercise of covetousness.
If Jews were treated any better in Joseph Stalin’s gulags than in Adolf Hitler’s concentration camps, they could choose which side of World War II they wanted to fight for, and perhaps there is some “collective guilt” implied for the Manhattan Project and the bombs which were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
