Wolverines
Very elusive land-dwelling or semi-aquatic carnivores
Little is known about wolverines. They are classified in the otter family or Mustelidæ, which is one of a number of catchall categories among the order Carnivora, to which cats and dogs characteristically belong. Animals of that family tend to be prized for their fur, and indeed, wolverines have long thick dense oily luxurious fur with loose supple skin. They can be very cuddly and affectionate animals or incredibly fierce and dangerous hunters and scavengers, capable of bringing down much bigger animals than themselves as prey.

Wolverines have retractable claws like cats, and similar mating behaviors to cats. They are able to make affectionate "kneading" motions like kittens with their paws and refrain from scratching with their long sharp claws, whereas otters and other members of the "mustelid" family are generally more doglike, less dexterous and less able to retract their claws.
Wolverines especially prize chicken eggs as delicacies near human habitations.
Nearly all mammals of the order Carnivora view humans instinctively as fellow carnivores and potential friends if not actively competing for territory or food. This is evidenced by the fact that humans commonly keep dogs and cats as pets. Most carnivores (as well as humans) typically hunt and eat only herbivores (typically hoofed land animals) as prey, as the flesh of other carnivores (or omnivores) is somehow unclean or cannibalistic to consume.
Some years ago I had been outdoors camping in light rain under a very large old growth tree that sheltered me somewhat from the rain. A small young female wolverine snuggled up to me and slept. It was very fierce and affectionate, but in the middle of the night it poked me in the back with its claws to wake me up. I was terrified when I saw the wolverine slobbering and glaring at me and baring its teeth. I screamed, and the wolverine lifted her hind leg, nodded at me and then retreated. I turned, and saw a man sneaking up to me, approaching me in the woods, dressed all in black. When the man heard my scream, his countenance fell like Cain's in the Bible. It was three o'clock in the morning, and then I knew that he was a murderer, and that the wolverine had saved my life by waking me up and warning me of his presence.
