U.S. troops withdrawn from Germany
Just looking around, another beautiful day, the slightest sense of unease of something that is not quite the same anymore.
The U.S. occupation of Germany since WWII is what is termed in that business, “old,” meaning, too established, and more likely compromised than not. Several top secret NSA installations exist in Germany, and there is a general sensation that long-running missions of a top secret nature inevitably become compromised.
The orders are to pull up the tent stakes and break camp. There’s an everyday routine for U.S. servicemen and diplomats, and personnel stationed there get a little bit too set in their ways, or fixed in a certain routine, which is inevitable under military strictness and regimentation ― but Americans are being observed and watched very closely in Europe in ways of which we were not aware earlier ― there’s a routine to break up, appointments (with fate!) not to keep. There are people we know, the girls next door, or the guys, we thought we knew, and come to find out they are not the friends we thought they were. We’re watching our backs out there a lot more than we used to, so it’s time to reassess our priorities, goals and objectives. Eternal U.S. occupation of Germany and eternal world peace are not going to happen. Iran? Israel? We’re sitting on a powder keg in Germany alone, and it’s time to ease off and skate on the multitude of fabricated criminal charges which modern German cops wish to bring against us.
Germany says US troop drawdown should spur Europe, but top Republicans worried: Reuters
A planned drawdown of 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany should spur Europe to strengthen its own defences, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Saturday, but two top U.S. Republican lawmakers expressed concern, saying the troops should not leave Europe. … Republican lawmakers Senator Roger Wicker and Representative Mike Rogers, the chairs of the Senate and House armed services committees, said they were "very concerned." They said the troops should not be moved from Europe, but moved east.
Roger Wicker and Mike Rogers have consistently supported gun rights in America for Americans which should earn them some respect for their opinions ― as soldiers’ tours of duty conclude in Germany, their concerns are a matter of semantics only as to placing new troops possibly in Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, etc.
Worrisome indeed, and our troops are constantly at risk of being caught in a trap between E.U. and Russia, Iran and Israel, with many hostile parties and no sure allies.
