Marijuana smoke has a strong weedy smell and people of a certain traditional establishment class tend to prefer the smell of tobacco if they smoke at all.

I highly doubt marijuana is all that psychoactive in and of itself. Hemp paper, hemp rope, hemp gunny sacks, hemp seeds in müsli and breakfast cereals, none of that is making anybody high. Peyote and psychedelic mushrooms make people sick, not high. I have very little interest in "TCH" or "CBD" or "compost tea."

Marijuana as a consumer product is probably cut with harder drugs like PCP, LSD, angel dust, quaaludes, meth, etc., and it's somehow a federal felony to grow it or transport it across state lines or in the jurisdiction of interstate commerce. Annoying like people blowing smoke in your face at the bus stop, but not worthy of the court's time to prosecute a felony.
