The reaping of the earth in Finnish

An unearthly strange use of the passive voice

[Rev. 14:16] And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
Ja pilvellä istuva heitti sirppinsä maan päälle, ja maa tuli leikatuksi.

The Finnish language has no separate word for “reap” as opposed to “cut” but the manner in which it is said indicates that that is the time of the harvesting of souls.

It is not said directly in the normal passive voice, “the earth was reaped” in Finnish. That would be «maa leikattiin,» but that is not what the Bible says.

The Bible says in Finnish that the earth “became” cut or rather, it “came” into a condition of having been cut or harvested, that is, «maa tuli leikatuksi» or in other words, «maa tuli leikattuun tilaan.»

There is no doubt in that language that that is the Grim Reaper who sits on that cloud, and that the great winepress of the wrath of God was trodden when Jesus suffered and died on the cross.
