Unlike the abuse of street drugs which receives heavy police protection and strong immunity from prosecution in court, lawful hunting and fishing have long been strictly prohibited in and around Delta Junction, Alaska for civilians who are not police officers, not by any one specific law or statute, but because of local religious cult attitudes and strong opinions of these activities as "permitted vices" subjecting participants to arbitrary arrest, fines and imprisonment.
