The “autism spectrum” community
A whole other suburban vocabulary
These people are “autistic” with a heavy suburban slur, and they do “autwork” or “auts and crafts” oftentimes exemplified by gang graffiti on concrete walls and railroad cars.
Being over-medicalized or jabbed with needles too many times as a kid or getting high on drugs as a teenager is suspected to contribute to this suburban strip-mall medical-clinic syndrome.
There's a lot of specialized vocabulary in the autism “spectrum” community — you do need a full autist’s palette with all the colors of the rainbow to do all that aut, after all. I can only skim some of that literature and pick out the most offensive and jarring of it.
- “Neurodivergent” = spreading one’s legs
- “Stimming” = self-stimulation or jacking off
- “Reframing” = falsely accusing someone in court for a crime all over again after the first case was thrown out
The various terms are poorly defined and over-diagnosed to include many people who are in fact quite normal to pad the profits of clinicians and practitioners of street-drug-enhanced mental health therapy.
