Technology moves fast & all project-based jobs are ultimately temporary
Don't resent rich people spending money on cool stuff
Whatever Mark Zuckerberg’s social problem is, it’s not the super yacht. Hang around the port some more. Ships like that in the port always bring plenty of good paying jobs all around.

This ship reportedly employs an onboard crew of 48, at an initial cost of $300,000,000 with annual running costs of $30,000,000.
That much money is still going to employ as many people but they might be shipbuilders and sailors rather than software engineers.
This guy is still apparently giving former employees everything they need to take a cruise and get themselves socially networked to find the next professional software project to work on.
A lay-off allows collection of unemployment benefits and effectively terminates any non-compete agreements, or any enforcement of such.
People who desire long term steady employment need to either find routine or rote service-based work, or if they do project-based work, be prepared to find the next thing to work on once a project is completed or a mission is accomplished.
