Highly decorated? You need to keep your nose cleaner than that. That's too many official compliments from superior officers. Those guys wear baseball caps with their service designations, and they hang out at gas stations, coffee shops, bars and nightclubs, mostly divorced, widowed or unmarried.
The family name is quite Gothic, and literally so, from the days of the Goths and the Visigoths. They would not have been Jews in those days, but as German industrialists some of them did become wealthy and marry into Jewish families in the Middle Ages.
