Canadians, not U.S. citizens, but we all find the same cultural failures in Europe. The Europeans are excessively cultured with a stilted and overly formal city lifestyle and they do not value outdoors and independent living or rural lifestyles.
We tried building our dream life in Portugal. After 3 years, we realized living abroad was actually holding us back.
