Is Japan a heartless and jaded country, marked by cruelty and cynicism?
Where is the heart and spirit of that country?
Japanese people seem very friendly to the United States at the present time. However, other Pacific Islanders do not; among which are counted many “sumo wrestlers” who are not quite native Japanese but immigrant consumers.
I'm going to be crass and modern and say a sumo is a consumer. Japanese corporate business work culture has been around for a very long time.
And that should be a warning to take heed, if you are being “fed” or if others around you appear too willing to “serve” you without quite according you equal rights or equal respect, on the same terms as everybody else.

It doesn't seem to be the case that these women either were actually “forced” or that made false allegations of rape after willingly getting in bed with the men.
It was more the middle way of a passive non-resistance without quite yielding any actual explicit consent to the carnal act, by a woman with an ice-cold demeanor and only a partial willingness to submit to any affection or love. The seduction of men of course was practiced and highly perfected as an art, and then the assumed consent became a reluctant “tabun” and finally a “sayonara.”
I wouldn't suppose they themselves were suffering any less than the men they tormented either.
