Drug-dealing and public corruption in Whatcom County, Washington
A hotbed of drug dealing and corruption on the busy U.S. I-5 border crossing with Canada.
Edward “Emil” Larson was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on drug charges on December 8, 2025, case #2510003837 in Whatcom County Superior Court. This is not Larson’s first offense. The Bellingham Herald reports that Edward Larson was booked by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and the state Department of Corrections for a DOC detainer and a state lottery violation nine years ago on or about November 28, 2016, along with Tamara “Marie” Larson for a drug offender sentencing alternative revocation, among other arrests at the time and place. Tamara Larson is now a schoolteacher. Same person, or not?
Edward and Gayle Larson own a home in Kent, Washington as well as a gas station, liquor store and grocery store in Delta Junction, Alaska, a similar business, perhaps, for which he would have been booked on the Washington State lottery violation years ago, a wholesale-only charge. Was Edward Larson attempting to drive north from Kent, Washington to Delta Junction, Alaska on the Alaska Highway when he was picked up by a Whatcom County sheriff’s deputy attempting to cross the border into Canada? Or was he travelling south on the Alaska Highway when he was picked up by local police on a federal advisement after crossing into the U.S. from Canada?
It is not a very auspicious time of year to start out on such a dangerous journey, and possibly be stranded by snowstorms or mechanical breakdowns in the extreme cold in remote and inaccessible areas in northern British Columbia and Yukon Territories before reaching Alaska. One would in theory have to be well equipped with provisions including a stove, fuel (chainsaw? firewood?) hard top insulated shelter and food to camp out for the remainder of the winter, even in case of a rollover or sliding off the road, which would make sheltering in the vehicle uncomfortable or impractical. The drugs and alcohol are not conducive to good judgment on the road. And yet another opinion by another Larson in the local news.
