Does U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance have an explanation for his support of a foreign political party with an openly lesbian leader who has explicitly rejected a Christian conservative political identity?
Alice Weidel is queer and presents her political party as an „Alternative“ to what is effectively a Christian status quo in Germany.
The party appears extreme left to us, not far right.
Otherwise, presumably conservative Christians in Germany would most naturally prefer to work within the so-called Christian Democrat Union rather than explicitly rejecting the “Christian” denomination and forming a splinter party that works with the far left.
Words like “Democrat” or “Democracy” in most countries refer merely to the act of voting by the population at large, not to any particular leftist political party or ideology as might be assumed in America.
